Chronic pain is defined as pain lasting beyond the normal 12 week tissue healing time. Chronic Pain leads to disability, anxiety, depression, poor quality of life, reduced life satisfaction, and unemployment.

Many Chronic Pain sufferers manage their pain with rest and inactivity. This strategy is frequently unsuccessful in reducing pain, and has a catastrophic impact on a patient's quality of life.
