What are Specialist Gym/ Exercise Programs?

Function and Form Physiotherapy and Exercise create unique personalised gym/ exercise programs created by a Physiotherapist and Exercise Physiologist.
Designed for your individual goals and needs whilst taking into account any specific injuries or areas of concern.
The program includes an injury and exercise assessment, along with discussing exercise preferences, length of program, and type of equipment available. The program is then created by Function and Form. During the second consultation your new program is demonstrated and recorded as you complete each exercise. Approximately two weeks later there is a follow up appointment to ensure the exercise execution in on point and to progress the intensity of the exercise if appropritate.

One of the most basic principles concerning goal and result achievement is consistency. Consistent Training increases the probability of experiencing adaptations sooner, which in turn enhances motivation. Without consistency the body's adaption to exercise is reduced, and habit formation is more challenging. Lack of consistency reduces the effectiveness of an exercise program.

2. Online Form

Following purchase of the program, you will receive an appointment confirmation email with a link to the Online Form. 

It contains questions about your goals, training experience, injury and medical history and other training program requirements. 

You will be asked to upload photos of the equipment you will be using whether that be at home or a gym of your choice. This is used to help design your program, consider the set up of the equipment, and how the program will flow in the space you have available.

You may also wish to included a photo of your ideal physique either of yourself at some point in your life or someone you admire if you have a body goal.Please complete this form before attending your appointment

Assessment (45 min)

1. Review your Exercise Plan Form.
2. Take Body Measurements & Photos, including Skinfolds, Circumferences,
3. Injury/ Functional Movement/ Exercise Assessment
4. Explain our Exercise Program process.
Body Composition Testing

4. Attend Second Appointment- Part 2
Exercise Program
(60 min)

(a minimum of 7 days later)
Demonstration and instruction of your new program, with each of the exercises videoed.

Be mindful that "how' you perform each exercise is super important and the big difference between training with many other Pt's and training at Function and Form.
Its about activating the correct muscles, creating the right set up and optimising the movement. This can make all the difference in terms of whether an exercise creates pain or creates positive change.

We also show how to record sets, reps and how to progress your program intensity.

**Each split program requires a one hour pt session for demonstration and instruction. 

5. Attend Third
Appointment - Part 3
Exercise Program Review (60 min)

Approximately 7-14 days later, or longer if you wish, the program is reviewed and the exercises are progressed if appropriate in terms of sets, reps, weight lifted, complexity of the exercise etc.
